One scarf purchased = One tree planted!
Les Belles Vagabondes chose to support this reforestation and conservation project to help restore forests, create jobs, and continue to support local communities and protect biodiversity. Tree-Nation is one of the largest reforestation platforms, allowing citizens and businesses to plant trees anywhere in the world. Tree-nation uses technology to facilitate tree planting. Since their inception in 2006, over 500,000 users and over 25,000 businesses have planted more than 47 million trees using their platform. Tree-nation currently offers more than 70 reforestation projects worldwide….
Our mission is to reforest the world by planting trees, one of the most effective solutions to fight against climate change.
With Belles Vagabondes, participate in the reforestation of the planet! For each scarf purchased on our website, we plant a tree.
Come and visit our forest and plant your tree!
Les Belles Vagabondes support SOS Villages D’enfants
As part of our commitment to solidarity, we have decided to support SOS Children’s Villages, an organization dedicated to providing a better future for children who are deprived of family care. By making a donation to this cause, we aim to contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment for these vulnerable children, offering them a home, education, and opportunities to grow up in peace.

The Women’s Foundation is the reference structure in France for the freedom and the rights of women and against the violence they are victims of. Thanks to the donations it receives, the Women’s Foundation provides financial, legal and material support to high-impact associative initiatives throughout France. Faced with the increase in domestic violence, the Women’s Foundation fights against inequality and supports women in distress and their children.

Circular life cycle
Because the remnants of our organic cotton scarves and pure silk foulards cannot be discarded, we have created upcycled products. We will regularly offer new creations based on available fabric scraps, for a more responsible and inspiring fashion.
- Bags BOBBY
Our new small silk Bobby bags are created from the remnants of our silk foulards. These bags were designed to recycle the textiles from our collections and offer colorful and chic accessories. They can be worn on the wrist or over the shoulder by adjusting the strap length. The Bobby bag is a vibrant and stylish accessory. Each bag is unique, made from various patterns and colors taken from our silk foulards, creating an original and exclusive piece.
- Bags MUSETTE
Our new MUSETTE silk bags are crafted from the remnants of our foulards. These bags were designed to recycle the textiles from our collections and offer colorful and chic accessories. The pleated design of the Musette bag gives it an original and elegant look. The Musette bag is both practical in its shape and sophisticated in its material and design. Each bag is unique, made from various patterns and colors taken from our silk foulards, creating an original and exclusive piece.
- Silk Shirts
Our 100% silk shirts boast exceptional quality, a light and incredibly soft texture, and outstanding craftsmanship. These shirts are unique pieces, crafted from the remnants of our large silk squares. They are sold in one size, as the lightness of silk allows for a beautiful drape on any silhouette. Each piece is unique, showcasing artisanal expertise and meticulous fabric selection and assembly. This committed approach highlights our prints while reducing textile waste.
- Kantha Quilts
Our Kantha quilts in organic cotton (200 x 140 cm) are made from fabric scraps from our foulards. Originating from eastern India, Kantha is the art of recycling saris by assembling them into blankets. To hold the layers together, women stitch straight embroidery lines by hand. Each of our Kantha quilts is a unique creation, made from organic cotton fabric scraps from our collections, layered together. The embroidery is then meticulously done by hand in the traditional manner. We will regularly offer new designs based on available fabric scraps.
- Upcycling Beach Bags
Our organic cotton beach bags are made from fabric scraps from our foulards. These bags were designed to recycle the textiles from our collections and offer colorful and reversible totes. A must-have bag, “Upcycling by Les Belles Vagabondes”!
A Sustainable Commitment
Since the launch in June 2018, Francoise Thoma, creator of the brand Les Belles Vagabondes, is concerned to anchor the production in a socio-eco-responsible logic.
Our scarves are printed in a “Socially Compliant Organisation” in Calcutta, which guarantees social coverage for their employees and good working conditions in their workshops.
We spent some time in Calcutta in the workshop and the atmosphere is very respectful of the people who work there.
To illustrate these values in the context of Covid: all the workers were paid during the confinement which was very strict in India (100% of the salaries when the workshop was closed and then 60% for the workers at home and 100% when they returned when the factory worked in alternation), we sent an advance so that the financing could be done and we were in very regular contact with the workshop management during this uncertain period.
Today everything is done in a relationship of trust, we have only one supplier with whom we work in partnership and in confidence.
Our summer scarves are made of organic cotton, GOTS labelled. The GOTS label is an international label created in 2002 for organic textiles. It guarantees an ecological and socially responsible production method. It also applies quality requirements.
We use Azo-free inks for printing (AZO-FREE class dyes are used that are free of heavy metals and hazardous chemicals). This limits the environmental risks in the country of production and ensures that the items are safe to wear on the skin.
In 2021, we have taken another step in our eco-responsible approach, we switched all our packaging to paper. From the beginning we were concerned about all those plastic bags used for packaging our products. Since January 2021, all our scarves are packed in nice paper bags.
